My plan is to sew one something a week for a year & document it here. I’m already slightly behind, (who currently isn’t, right?), so instead of being extra precious & perfectiony about my posts, I decided to just start putting things up. Eventually there will more photos, details, etc... But for now, let’s just get started.

This dress was mostly inspired by my current haircut, (you’ll see me soon trust me), and my house, (you’ll be seeing a lot of that too). I’ve been very into asymmetry lately for whatever reason. If I go really deep, maybe it’s something to do with embracing the unbalanced imperfection of things. If I stay surface, I just like the look of it.

My new sewing room is so appropriately an untouched vintage little girl’s room. You can see the gold splatter paint on the wall & that’s just one of the things that artistically inspires me about being here. It’s my stage backdrop & I’m costuming for my imagined life in it.

Back to sewing. This dress is my own made up pattern, made from Kaufman Lush velveteen, cream cotton sateen, & double faced black satin ribbon from MJ Trim. I’m a big fan of doing an outside seam & trimming it down on pointed collars for maximum pointage. Next time I make this I think I’d probably leave the cuff edges raw as well. Maybe..

So here I am. This is going to be a sewing/fashion/clothing art blog. For those of you that know me, you know what to expect to see. For those of you that don’t, the best way I can describe it is how someone once described the dresses I’ve made: Tragically Beautiful.

Hopefully my photos aren’t gigantic haha. I’m in the throes of a learning process, bear with me please. I’ll eventually be going back to edit these early posts, adding more photos & whatnot. I’m also working towards creating a line of sewing patterns (I’d like this one to be my first one) for my kindred spooky misfit whimsical spirits; as well as other sewing related accoutrements. And I haven’t yet decided if I’ll be selling dresses that I make yet. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for visiting!
